Uttarakhand glacier burst updates: 26 bodies recovered, 171 missing, rescue operations in Progress

Devastating floods in Chamoli district followed a glacier break in the Himalayas.

Scientists suspect that water pocket or lake inside glacier exploded leading to disaster, IANS reported.

Water level in the Dhauliganga river near Reni village suddenly crossed its regular flow.

The rescue ops from the National and State Disaster response team has been active for over 24 hours.

Indian Army, along with the Engineer Task Force, have successfully opened the mouth of the Tunnel at Tapovan.

Still, 18 people have died and 200 are suspected to be still missing, says State Disaster Response Force.
