“Film actor Asif Basra was found hanging in a private complex in Dharamshala. Forensic team is at the spot and police is investigating the matter,” SSP Kangra Vimukt Ranjan was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
According to the police, before the alleged suicide, Basra had just returned back from a stroll in the locality with his dog. No suicide note has been recovered yet.
Asif Basra was well-known for his roles in movies like Outsourced, Parzania, Black Friday, and Kai Po Che. He had also appeared in movies like Jab We Met, Hichki, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, among others.
Most recently, Basra was also seen in the popular web series Paatal Lok.
Born in 1967, Basra moved to Mumbai in 1989 to start his acting career. His first stint was in the horror-thriller series Woh in 1989. He also appeared in the 2006 epic historical film One Night with the King with veteran actors Omar Sharif and Peter O’Toole.
He last appeared in the web series Hostages on Hotstar.
