The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi on Tuesday alleged that the Delhi Police had put Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal under house arrest, a day after he visited the agitating farmers at the Delhi-Haryana Singhu border.

However, minutes after the Arvind Kejriwal-led party’s tweet, the Delhi city police force officially denied the claim.

“This claim of CM Delhi being put on house arrest is incorrect. He exercises his right to free movement within the law of the land. A picture of the house entrance says it all,” Anto Alphonse, DCP North tweeted a picture of the CM residence to back the claim.

Refuting the charge, a senior Delhi Police officer told PTI that this claim was not true, “The chief minister can come and go anywhere. We have our security personnel deployed outside his residence. Even last evening, he had come out”.

In a statement, AAP also alleged that the Delhi Police, with the help of the BJP, has house arrested Kejriwal here at his residence.

“All the meetings of the Chief Minister have been cancelled,” it said, adding that on the orders of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, the police brought all the three mayors of the civic bodies to protest outside the Chief Minister’s residence.

“And in the backdrop of the three mayors sitting on protest outside Kejriwal’s residence they have barricaded the residence premises, due to which Kejriwal cannot go out, and no one can meet him at his residence,” it alleged.

The AAP accused that the Delhi Police has done this on the orders of the MHA in the wake of the Bharat Bandh called by farmers.

Kejriwal on Monday visited the Singhu border, where thousands of farmers were protesting against the Centre’s new farm laws, and checked arrangements made for them by his government.
