BBMP to conduct door-to-door survey of COVID-19 patients in B'luru
Passing an order to this effect, the Bruhat BengaluruMahanagara Palike commissioner B H Anil Kumar said HealthSurvey Teams (HST) comprising booth level officials, teachersof government, government aided, BBMP and private schoolswould be formed forthe purpose.
These teams would carry out survey of all the families atthe booth level in all the 198 municipal wards of the city toidentify people with illness including the Severe AcuteRespiratory Illness (SARI), Influenza Like Illness (ILI) orany other disease.
"We are planning to cover at least 25 lakh families. Weare aiming to constitute 17,000 HSTs but we need a minimum of8,000 HSTs," Kumar told .
The commissioner said arrangements have been made toorganise training camps at all the 27 assembly constituenciesfalling in the city and directions will be given to theofficers of Education department, Woman and Child Welfaredepartment, BBMP's education officers and revenue officers tostart preparing for the camp.
Already order has been issued to all the schools in thestate capital and officers at the booth level to mandatorilyattend the training programme for door-to-door survey ofCOVID-19 patients having respiratory problem or influenza likeillness.
The senior official warned the school teachers and boothlevel officers of action under Epidemic Diseases (Control) Actof 1897 if they do not turn up for training and refuse to takeup the survey.
"Private schools and their teachers cannot refuse to takepart in the drive otherwise we will initiate action againstthem under the Epidemic Act," Kumar said.
As many as 141 positive cases have come to light inBengaluru so far, including 69 discharges, 66 active cases, 5deaths due to coronavirus and a suicide by a COVID-19 patient.
The coronavirus cases have been reported from 43 wards,whereas 24 of them have been designated with 'ContainmentZones'.
The municipal corporation has identified 1,051 primarycontacts, of which 553 are under quarantine and 4,584secondary contacts including 744 currently in isolation.
