AP govt releases over Rs 140 crore to fight COVID-19

Amaravati, Apr 30 (): The Andhra Pradeshgovernment on Thursday released Rs 141.46 crore to combatCOVID-19.

The amount would be spent on Emergency Response andHealth System Preparedness to eradicate the disease under theNational Health Mission, Finance Special Secretary K V VSatyanarayana said in an order.

Also, a sum of Rs 18.99 crore has been releasedthrough the Disaster Management Department for procurement ofdisinfectants and personal protection equipment for sanitaryworkers and also for containment of the contagion in rurallocal bodies.

The Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Departmenthad sought Rs 102 crore for the purpose as per the guidelinesissued by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs but given theresource crunch being faced by the state government, theFinance Department released only Rs 18.99 crore, officialsources said.
