Ahmedabad COVID-19 cases inch closer to 15,000;death toll 1066
Ahmedabad, Jun 9 () With 331 new COVID-19 cases, Ahmedabad's tally rose to 14,962 on Tuesday while the death toll mounted by 27 to 1,066, state Health department said.
A total of 248 patients were discharged from hospitals in the day after recovery, it said.
Meanwhile, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has decided to remove 11 spots from the list of the 'micro containment' areas in the city. The move will allow the civic body to grant the relaxations in lockdown in these areas as well.
The revised list, issued on Monday, now mentions 35 spots as 'micro containment' areas.
As per the AMC, the move will provide relief for 15,531 people while 54,093 citizens will continue to face restrictions.
The civic body has also slapped a fine of Rs 5 lakh each on on Artham Hospital in Ambawadi area and Bodyline Hospital in Paldi area under the Epidemic Diseases Act for turning away coronavirus patients and using beds for their own patients.
These hospitals would lose their registration if they fail to deposit the penalty in seven days, an AMC release said. KA PD NSK NSK
