Active COVID-19 cases in AP rises to 220; 27 new cases

Amaravati (AP), Apr 5 (): The number of coronaviruscases crossed the 200 mark in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday with 36more people testing positive for the infection, the stategovernment said.

Kurnool district saw a quantum jump in the number ofCovid-19 cases from four to 27, all on account of the TablighiJamaat attendees and their contacts.

Seven cases were confirmed in Chittoor district sinceSaturday night, while Prakasam and SPS Nellore districtsreported two new cases each.

With five coronavirus patients discharged from hospitalsafter recovery, and the death of a 55-year-old man, the numberof active cases in the state stood at 220, according to thelatest bulletin issued by the state nodal officer ArjaSrikanth.

The two north coastal Andhra districts of Srikakulam andVizianagaram are the only ones that remain unaffected bythe deadly infection with not a single positive case so far. DBVVS VS
