A look at India’s largest Coronavirus quarantine facility in the desert

Indian defence forces are aggressively building quarantine facilities as the country battles the Coronavirus pandemic. In fact, the forces suspended all activities to focus on creating ways and means to isolate people. As of now, India can quarantine nearly 60,000 patients/suspects at several facilities . But the largest of it is in the middle of the desert in Western Rajasthan, at Jaisalmer.
Here’s a look at the largest quarantine facility in the country:
Indian defence forces have set up several quarantines at Manesar, Jodhpur and Jhansi.

India’s largest quarantine facility — Wellness Centre Jaisalmer — is located in Western Rajasthan.
The centre was set up in mid-February after the number of Coronavirus infections started to balloon. Two battalions of troops were moved to Rajasthan to make arrangements.

As of now, the facility has 700 beds but the military is keeping over a dozen of its hospitals on standby, if need be.
The facility is well equipped with TV rooms, and sports areas where people can play football, chess and badminton.
A total of 484 stranded Indians from Coronavirus-hit countries arrived at Jaisalmer by special planes, in three different batches.
