9 more test positive for COVID-19 in Manipur, tally rises to 71

Imphal, May 31 () Nine more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur, taking the total number of such cases in the state to 71, an official said on Sunday.

The new cases were reported from Ukhrul district (3), Imphal East (2), Kangpokpi (2) and one each from Imphal West and Noney, a statement issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room said.

All the new patients were "stable", it said, adding that necessary containment measures and contact tracing were underway.

Meanwhile, four COVID-19 patients undergoing treatment were discharged from hospital on Sunday, taking the total number of recovered persons to 11.

The four discharged patients have been advised home quarantine for another 14-days and "will remain under surveillance," they added.

Of the 71 COVID-19 cases in Manipur, 60 are active as 11 have recovered, officials added.

The state, which was declared COVID 19-free on April 19, recorded a surge in the number of cases with migrants from other parts of the country returning home. COR RG RHL
