62-year-old doctor dies due to COVID-19; Indore death toll 22

Indore, Apr 9 () A 62-year-old doctor, who hadtested positive for coronavirus, died here on Thursday, takingthe death toll due to COVID-19 in Indore district of MadhyaPradesh to 22, an official said.

Indore's chief medical and health officer (CMHO), DrPraveen Jadia, said that the victim, who was a generalphysician, breathed his last at a private hospital in themorning.

"It appears that he had come in contact with acoronavirus patient during treatment. We are trying to tracethe source of infection," he said.

This is probably the first case of a doctor succumbingto coronavirus infection in Madhya Pradesh.

The government-run MGM College here had on Wednesdaynight issued a list of COVID-10 patients, in which thedoctor's name had figured.

He had symptoms of coronavirus, but the authoritiesare yet to trace the COVID-19 patient he had come in contactwith, officials said.

Meanwhile, a purported video is doing rounds in socialmedia in which the doctor is seen sitting with his familymembers and claiming that he is completely healthy.

As per the latest figures provided by the state healthdepartment, so far 213 people have tested positive forcoronavirus in Indore district, which has emerged as thecoronavirus infection hotspot in the state. HWP MASNP NP
