2 CAPF jawans among 31 fresh COVID-19 cases in Himachal; tally reaches 1,172

Shimla, Jul 10 () Thirty-one more people, including two jawans of the central armed police forces (CAPF), tested positive for COVID-19 in Himachal Pradesh on Friday, taking the total number of coronavirus cases in the state to 1,172, officials said.

Sixteen fresh cases were reported from Solan, three each from Bilaspur, Shimla and Hamirpur, two from Kangra and one each from Kullu, Chamba, Kinnaur and Una, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) R D Dhiman said.

The virus has claimed 10 lives in the state, while 872 of the infected have recovered and 13 migrated out of the state, he said.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state stands at 275.

In Kullu, a 42-year-old CRPF jawan tested positive for coronavirus, Superintendent of Police, Gaurav Singh said.

He came to Kullu from Srinagar on July 4 and was quarantined, Singh added.

A 39-year-old CAPF jawan tested positive for COVID-19 in Kangra, Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Prajapati said, adding that he had returned from Leh on July 1.

Thirty-nine more patients recovered from the infection on Friday, Dhiman said. Fifteen of them were in Kangra, thirteen in Hamirpur, seven in Una, two in Mandi and one each in Solan and Lahaul-Spiti.

Solan has the highest number of active cases in the state at 74, followed by 48 in Kangra, 43 in Hamirpur, 23 in Una, 28 in Kinnaur, 15 in Shimla, 14 in Bilaspur, 11 in Chamba, eight in Mandi, five in Sirmaur, three each in Lahaul-Spiti and Kullu. DJI DPB DPB
