India hogs the limelight with 44 Universities making their way into the QS World Rankings this year

Almost 44 Indian universities have made it to the Quacquarelli Symonds University Rankings - It releases a list of top universities from BRICS nations (Brazil, China, India, Russia and South Africa) every year which highlights the hierarchy of best institutions in the region.

The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay has moved up three places to be ranked 13th. IIT-B ranks second in India after the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, which grabbed the sixth spot.
“IIT Bombay was given an overall score of 84.4 of 100. The institute has a score of 99.1 in academic reputation, 100 in employer reputation, 91.5 in citations per paper, 94.7 in papers per faculty and 97.6 in staff with Ph.D, all scores out of a maximum of 100,” a statement from IIT-B said.
Two other IITs rank in the top 20. These are IIT Delhi at 15th and IIT Madras at 19th.

QS University Rankings: BRICS 2016 surveys 250 top universities in the five countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa). Performance of the universities are based on eight key parameters: academic reputation (30 per cent), employer reputation (20 per cent), faculty/student ratio (20 per cent), Staff with a Ph.D (10 per cent), papers per faculty (10 per cent), citations per paper (5 per cent), international faculty (2.5 per cent) and international students (2.5 per cent).
