Antonio Brown couldn't contain his excitement after learning he had been released by the Oakland Raiders on Saturday.
In a video Brown posted on YouTube, the star receiver could be seen shirtless, celebrating when he realized that his time with the Raiders was officially over.
Brown's departure from the Raiders was both abrupt and drawn out.
After joining the team to much fanfare, Brown caused headaches for the Raiders front office almost immediately, injuring his foot during cryotherapy and sparking a dispute with the NFL over the right to wear his preferred helmet.
Those troubles carried through the preseason before things came to a head during the days leading up to Week 1. Unhappy with fines levied against him by the team, Brown posted a letter from general manager Mike Mayock on Instagram, using the caption, "When your own team want to hate but there's no stopping me now."
From there, things only got worse. After posting a bizarre YouTube video that included a phone call shared with head coach Jon Gruden on Friday night, Brown posted an image to Instagram on Saturday morning that included a request that the Raiders release him.
Later on Saturday, the Raiders granted his request, and just hours later Brown agreed to terms to join the New England Patriots on a one-year deal worth up to $15 million that includes a $9 million signing bonus.
Brown won't be able to face off against his former teammates when the Patriots take on the Steelers in Week 1, but is expected to make his debut with New England in Week 2 when the team travels to Miami to take on the Dolphins.
