Janice Min, the legendary editor and acclaimed journalist, is joining NewTV chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg and CEO Meg Whitman in their new mobile streaming venture to produce premium short-form video exclusively for mobile devices.
As the former editor-in-chief of Us Weekly and former copresident and chief creative officer of The Hollywood Reporter-Billboard Media Group, Min is known for transforming the once declining Hollywood Reporter into the modern entertainment industry's must-read.
NewTV has already secured $1 billion in funding from a host of powerful media conglomerates, including Disney, Fox, Lionsgate, MGM, NBCUniversal, Sony Pictures, Viacom, and more.
The startup's service is predicted to be organized similar to Hulu's two-tiered subscription mode with select advertising featured on the lower-priced version, according to Deadline.
