Jul 2, 2014, 12:52 IST
HP’s two day long summit is on in Mumbai, India. Today world’s major technology and data solutions company, HP, revealed a lesser known fact. HP along with Narayana Health have been running cloud-enabled eHealth centres in rural India. These are built in shipping containers and placed conveniently in states such as Uttar Pradesh. Where thousands of people are being given medical aid.

These containers are easy to transport and are equipped to deliver quality and affordable healthcare services to people living in areas, where finding the right kind of health care is a distant dream. The project has been successful and now HP wants to expand the initiative further.
These makeshift eHealth containers are built to connect patients in remote areas to receive healthcare from the best doctors in the country. Each container is fully equipped with cloud-integrated diagnostics equipment, HP workstations and video conferencing material.

HP will be heading to more Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities in the country and expand this health initiative. The organisation plans to install up to 20 more eHealth centres in India, over the next 18-20 months. 70% of the Indian population stays in the rural sector. Only 30% of the total doctors reside here, rest are in the urban subdivisions. One has to walk up to 8 KM in the rural areas to get medical advice. These eHealth containers have proven to be of great help and with its expansion, more people living in villages can be tapped and given the best of medical help swiftly.
