Business Insider compiled surveys from five reputed sources-- Republic-C -Voter, NDTV - Hansa, Today's Chanakya, India Today-Axis, and TimesNow - VMR-- amongst many others and the final number is an average of these five polls.

The snow laden state of Himachal Pradesh is a North Indian state of India located in the Western Himalayas. Spread over an area of 55,673 square kilometres, the state has a total number of 51,59,000 eligible and registered voters found on the electoral rolls. This figure comprises of 26,45,533 males, 25,13,408 females and 59 voters of the third gender.

In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the state elected the BJP from all its constituencies thereby giving 4 seats in total to the party for the parliament. The BJP got 3 seats during 2009 elections leaving 1 seat for the Congress party. The results of the Lok Sabha elections in 2004 saw the Congress party winning from 3 seats while the BJP got 1 seat from the state. Hence only these two major parties of the country have been sharing the constituencies among them during most Lok Sabha elections down the history.

There are four Lok Sabha constituencies in Himachal Pradesh namely Kangra, Mandi, Hamirpur and Shimla. Four MPs are elected during every Parliamentary election from Himachal Pradesh. All of these constituencies went for polling on May 19 during the last phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019 in the country. Himachal Pradesh can send 3 members to the Rajya Sabha. The number of assembly constituencies in the state are 68. The latest assembly polls were conducted in Himachal Pradesh in December 2017.
