  • It's easy to update your Roku if you've been having trouble with the system or it's been unplugged for a long time.
  • Your Roku should update automatically when it is turned on and connected, but you can also check for updates manually.
  • You can check for software updates on your Roku in the Settings menu, by choosing "System update" in the "System" section.
  • Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.

Because your Roku is a connected device with an always-on internet connection, it is designed to check for software updates automatically without interrupting your use of the device or interfering with watching video.

Ordinarily, Roku will check for updates about once a day, and then download and install changes in the background.

If you want to check for updates manually, you can do that as well. You might want to do this if you suspect there's a problem with your Roku, or if your Roku has been disconnected or unplugged for a long time.

In that case, you might want to ensure it's updated before you start using it again. Here's how.
