Amazon wants to help people make money.

For two years, Amazon has run an affiliate program that lets social media influencers earn a cut of sales generated from Amazon links within YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook.

The program has largely flown under the radar, but there was recently an uptick in social chatter as new people have signed up for the program and marketing firms like Influence.co have reported that Amazon is increasingly expanding it. One product that's gone viral is a paneled puffer coat that sells for $130 and is so popular that it has its own Instagram account.

Creators say that revenue from the Amazon influencer program can vary from a few dollars to $1,500 a month. Commission rates range from 10% for Amazon's private-label fashion line to 1% for video games and consoles.
