How to check IP Address on Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 10

IP number or IP address is the unique address assigned to a computer. Here is how you can find out the IP address of a computer.

Windows XP

Go to Control Panel and select Network and internet connections. If you do not find it, click on Next and then select and double click on Network Connections.

Right click on the Local Area Connection icon. Click on Status and then go to Support. You will see the IP address displayed.

In case your computer is connected to a wireless network, you need to click on the Wireless network connection icon.

Windows 7

Go to Control Panel and the click on Network and Internet. Then click on Network and Sharing Center.

Among the list of tasks, click on ‘Change adapter settings’. Right click on the Local Area Connection icon, click on Status and then go to details. You will see the IP address displayed.

In case your computer is connected to a wireless network, you need to click on the Wireless network connection icon.

For Windows Vista

Go to Control Panel and the click on Network and Internet. Then click on Network and Sharing Center.

Among the list of tasks, click on ‘Manage Network Connections’. Right click on the Local Area Connection Icon and then click on Status. Go to details and you will see the IP address displayed.

In case your computer is connected to a wireless network, you need to click on the Wireless network connection icon.

Windows 10

Go to Control Panel. Press Windows Key and X together and then select Control Panel.

Go to Network and Internet and select Network and Sharing Center. Now click on ‘Change adapter settings’ which you will find on your left side. Right click on Ethernet and go to Status. You will see the IP address displayed.
