Every phone manufactured by any company comes with an IMEI number. Expanded as International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number, this number is used to identify the device. If the phone is stolen, you can call your network provider and ask them to blacklist the device with the IMEI number. This process will make the device useless to the thief even if the SIM is changed on the phone.

What is IMEI Number?

IMEI is a 15 digit number. It is a comprehensive piece of code that contains a lot of information including the country of manufacturing, manufacturer, and model number. Once the IMEI number is given, services like CheckMend will tell you if the device had been ever stolen earlier. It is important that you never share your phone’s IMEI number publicly. It might land you on the risk of cloning or other range of scams based on IMEI number. Here are a few ways to check your phone’s IMEI number.

Check IMEI using the phone dialer

This is the most popular and universal method of checking the IMEI number. This method will work on any phone whether Android or iPhone. Just open the phone app and dial the following number.
