Karnataka has 28 parliamentary seats in total to give the parties contesting in the Lok Sabha elections. According to the announcement by the Election Commission of India, the state will go for polling in two phases for its different constituencies. The polling dates for the state are April 18 and April 23.

Names of Constituencies in Karnataka

The list of 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka includes Udupi, Chikmagalur, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Chitradurga, Tumkur, Mandya, Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Bangalore Rural, Bangalore North, Bangalore Central, Bangalore South, Chikkballapur, Kolar, Chikkodi, Belgaum, Bagalkot, Bijapur, Gulbarga, Raichur, Bidar, Koppal, Bellary, Haveri, Dharwad, Uttara Kannada, Davanagere, and Shimoga.

The present status of constituencies in in Karnataka

In 2009 elections BJP won from 19 constituencies in Karnataka leaving 6 seats for the Congress and 3 seats for the Janata Dal (Secular).

While the BJP fared much better in 2014 general elections in other states when compared to how it did in 2009, Karnataka elected the party only from 17 constituencies making it lose 2 of its positions in the state. On the other hand, the Congress showed an improvement by winning from 9 constituencies.

The BJP is now working forward vigorously to capture as many seats in the state as possible. May 23 will let us know how the party fares in the state during 2014 elections.
