Indian streaming platform Hotstar has hit a new record with 18.6 million concurrent users watching the IPL final on Sunday night. However, it’s not just that, while the IPL ran into late Sunday night, Hotstar was in for another big one, with Game of Thrones airing on Monday morning.
It has been an exciting month for Hotstar with both of its blockbuster properties – IPL and GoT – hitting the screens over April and May. In fact, Hotstar had broken records within the first three weeks of IPL – it had registered a viewership of 267 million viewers.
“The remarkable rate at which the viewership has grown over the years is testament to the audience pull that VIVO IPL enjoys. These staggering numbers in just three weeks signify the platform’s immense reach and scale, as well as our technological ability to deliver an uninterrupted, immersive cricket watching experience for consumers,” Varun Narang, Chief Product Officer, Hotstar had earlier said.
For the Royal Challengers vs Mumbai Indians match on March 28 alone, the platform had recorded a concurrent viewership of 12.7 million.
