Hostages taken, police shot at supermarket in southern France
A policeman has been shot during an ongoing hostage situation at a supermarket in southern France.
AFP reported the injury, citing security sources.
Regional regional police confirmed that incident is underway at the Super U supermarket in Trèbes, near the town of Carcassonne.
The French interior ministry also confirmed that a major operation was underway.
According to the French TV channel BFMTV, a man entered the supermarket on Friday morning and shots were heard soon after.
BFMTV reported that the attack is linked to an earlier shooting in Carcassonne itself.
It reported that a member of the CRS, the reserve branch of the French National Police, was shoot near his or her barracks by a man driving in a car.
AFP tweeted that ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack.
