Honda vrooms into 125 cc motorcycle segment with new CB Shine SP

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) today launched its final product of the year - the 125cc CB Shine SP.

The motorcycle comes with a 5 speed gear box, digital analog meter console and Honda’s Eco Technology (HET) and advanced Combi-Brake System (CBS). The new CB Shine SP will be available in 5 colors and three variants and is available at Rs.59,900 for Self-Drum-Alloy, Rs.62,400 for Self-Disc-Alloy and Rs. 64,400 for CBS (Ex-showroom, Delhi).

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Keita Muramatsu, President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd revealed that the current festive season saw the biggest festive footfalls in India. The company sold over 4.5 lacs unit in Oct 2015, it’s highest ever in a month.

The company saw a 2% jump in the overall market share in the 2 wheelers market. It currently commands a hefty 46% market share in the 125cc motorcycles segment. 125cc infact holds 11.2% of the total 2 wheeler market segment.

When asked about the way forward for Honda, Mr. Y. S. Guleria, Senior Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd said the majority of the 2 wheelers market in India is focused around the Scooter segment. The company is also running production to its maximum capacity, so new export plans are on hold right now.

India is currently the 2nd largest contributor to Honda’s 300 million user-base worldwide.
