Honda Cars India to recall 25,782 units of Mobilio diesel and 64,428 units of Honda City diesel

On Thursday, Japanese car maker Honda Cars India announced a recall of 64,428 units of diesel variants of Honda City manufactured from December 2013 to July 2015 and 25,782 units of diesel variants of Honda Mobilio manufactured from June 2014 to July 2015 to voluntary replace the Fuel Return Pipe of these vehicles.

With this recall of Honda, the recalls in India have crossed 1.7 million units ever since the government came out with the voluntary recall scheme a few years back

There is a possibility that in some of these cars, the Fuel Return Pipe may come out, resulting in fuel leakage and leading to engine stoppage, Honda Cars India said in a statement.

The Fuel Return Pipe and related parts will be replaced free of cost at HCIL dealerships across India from 19th December 2015 in a phased manner and the owners will be contacted individually.

The customers alternatively can also check whether their car is covered under this campaign by submitting their 17 character alpha-numeric Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the special micro site which has been created on the company's website.

This is Honda Cars India's fourth recall in 2015, taking the overall recall numbers to 3.3 lakh units. '

Apart from the current recall of over 90,000 units, The company had recalled 3879 units of CVT variant of Honda City to update CVT control software in October. There was a recall of 223,578 units to replace air bag inflators in September of 2015 in CR-V, Civic, City and Jazz and in May 2015 -- Honda Cars India had recalled 575 units of CRV and 10,805 units of Accord to replace air bag inflators.
