Alexander McQueen's £8.5 million London mansion has gone on sale - here's what it's like inside
The property sits on the edge of Hyde Park and is just a minute's walk from Oxford Street and Bond Street, where McQueen opened his store in 2003.
The penthouse's new look is the result of an extensive 16-month refurbishment which ensured the home remains an homage to the iconic designer. Custom-made Italian chandeliers and neutral tones are a running theme throughout.
Portraits of him hang in the living room and references to the designer's trademark skull motif are found throughout the house.
On the top floor, there are two VIP bedroom suites. One of them has mirrored built-in wardrobes with crystal door handles made in Italy.
The other has a huge walk-in wardrobe that the iconic designer would have been proud of.
The upper floor boasts a chrome spiral staircase leading up to a roof terrace.
The fashion designer gained planning permission for the roof terrace but didn't live long enough to complete it. Now, it has beautiful views over Mayfair, two living areas, and an outside kitchen.
The duplex floors are linked by a staircase with a 4.5 metre-high ceiling.
Antiqued mirrors and silver leaf wallpaper line the stairwell, with an Italian chandelier hanging from the ceiling.
The kitchen doubles as a 10-seat dining room with double French doors opening onto a terrace that spans the facade of the penthouse.
The property used to belong to Queen Victoria's grandson, Alexander Mountbatten.
Now, the home is a fitting celebration of the life of one of history's most esteemed designers.
In a press release, Knight Frank's Harvey Cyzer said: “This stunning penthouse has been painstakingly refurbished and has all the glamour you associate with one of the world’s most iconic fashion designers: Alexander McQueen."
