Hillary Clinton picks up at least 3 big states
Coming on the heels of a stunning loss in Michigan, Clinton saw her lead in the polls dwindle during the the week leading up to the Ohio primary.
The day of the Michigan primary, Clinton was leading Sanders in the polls by as many as 30 points. Following the loss in Michigan, polls showed Clinton's lead had dwindled to five points.
But Clinton actually looks as if she managed to prove the earlier polls correct. With more than 15% of precincts reporting, Clinton is ahead of Sanders by nearly 30 points, per NBC News.
Additionally, Clinton was also projected to win North Carolina and Florida by large margins. With roughly 50% of precincts reporting, Clinton holds a 16-point lead over Sanders. In Florida, with more than 90% of precincts reporting, Clinton holds a 31-point advantage over the senator, per NBC News.
"We are moving closer to securing the Democratic party nomination and winning this election in November," she said in a victory speech after Ohio was called in her favor.
"I want to congratulate Sen. Sanders for the vigorous campaign he's waging," she added.
Clinton also holds early leads in Missouri and Illinois - two states that polls showed looked to be the most favorable to Sanders on Tuesday.
