Hilarious Tumblr Highlights Some Of The Most Ridiculous College Paper Topics
A new tumblr account highlights the often absurd nature of undergraduate theses, allowing student authors to submit a brief summary of their work in their own, colloquial, words. The objective for lolmythesis.tumblr.com is fairly simple - "Summing up years of work in one sentence."
While the account is run by an anonymous moderator, the majority of the early posts are from Harvard students, although the page now features submissions from a range of schools and fields of study.
Here were some of our favorite thesis summaries:
"I failed to prove something with high tech equipment that people proved 100 years ago with a mirror and some patience." - Physics, Grinnell College
"Stories are good, life is hard, let's dance about it." - Humanities, New College of Florida
"No, I can't fix your damn toaster." - Electrical Engineering, Trinity College
"People don't care what their subway stop is called, so good thing I stood outside in the rain and asked them." - Urban Studies, University of Pennsylvania
"I have a lot of feelings about female saints' lives and feminism. Also dragons." - History, University of Virginia
"Monkeys like to pick things up and put them down (especially when there's food involved)." - Biology, Georgetown University
"wow. many clothing. much antiques. such fancy. so women's college." - Material Culture. Mount Holyoke College
"The results of this investigation were not statistically significant." - Statistics, Harvard University
