Here's why Petrol in India is priced the way it is

The Indian Government hiked the excise duty on Petrol and Diesel prices on Saturday. That meant yet another marginal fall in Petrol and Diesel prices. As a response to this, Inshorts and Factly have released an 80-second Informative Video to illustrate the structuring of Petroleum Pricing in India.

The video captures the journey of petroleum price from its crude form to being shipped to India to being actually sold at the petrol pump near you. The objective of the video really is to demystify some of the common myths about Petrol pricing and educate them about the various components including taxes levied by Central and State Governments.
