The middle class in New York earns between $43,857 and $131,572.

In a recent analysis on its Stateline blog, Pew Charitable Trusts found that the middle class has shrunk in every US state between the years 2000 and 2013, the most recent data available.

Pew defines "middle class" as households earning 67%-200% of a state's median income, so we calculated out exactly what that meant for every state.
