As the growth story of mobile internet in India is on the upsurge with the user count expected to reach a whopping 314 million in 2017, this platform has opened a world of new opportunities for entrepreneurs. With various companies across the world investing in building their apps, this new app culture has paved the way for what is called the ‘App economy’.

Think about it. On a single tap, everything is available at your doorstep- from groceries, leisure and entertainment services, salon and home services to commuting options.

As Indians are busy using and exploring newer apps, Gigato shows the apps Indians are using the most in various segments. Here’s what is making Indians ‘Appy’:

  • In music streaming apps that make you groove, almost 30% people use Saavn and 27% people use Gaana
  • Foodpanda is the favourite food delivery app with almost 57% using the app
  • Flipkart is the top choice in the ‘mobile shopping apps for great retail therapy segment’ followed by Snapdeal, Amazon, ebay, Myntra, Jabong and others
  • People use 3G/2G network for different apps where online shopping is the topmost priority followed by recharging apps, online music streaming apps and entertainment apps.
  • Also, almost 80% of people use data packs over Wi-Fi when using smartphones at home.
