At roughly 5 p.m. on Thursday, hundreds of thousands of anxious high schoolers found out if they were accepted into the Ivy League.

From a pool of 39,041 applicants, Harvard accepted 2,037 students for an acceptance rate of 5.2% - lower than last year's 5.33%.

Here's what they incoming class of 2020 will look like, according to an announcement from the school.

Race/Ethnic breakdown

The acceptances for Asian-American and African-American students were the highest in the school's history.

  • Asian-American - 22.1%
  • African-American - 14%
  • Latino - 12.7%
  • Native American - 2.2%
  • Native Hawaiians - .4%

Gender

  • Men - 51.6%
  • Women - 48.4%

Intended major

  • social sciences - 21.9%
  • biological sciences - 18.9%
  • humanities - 16.9%
  • engineering - 14%
  • math- 7.5%
  • physical sciences- 7.3%
  • computer science- 7.2%
  • undecided- 6.4%

Geography

  • New England and Mid-Atlantic States - 39%
  • West Coast - 20%
  • South - 18%
  • Midwest - 11%
  • US territories and abroad - 12%
