The maker of Absolut vodka and Chivas whiskey is developing an at-home cocktail maker that's controlled by a smartphone or tablet.

Pernod Richard SA announced the new device, called "The Gutenberg Project," on Tuesday.

The device comes with several dispensers that are shaped like books, each of which contains a different liquor.

Users can select a cocktail on their iPad or smartphone, and the Gutenberg app will dispense a the correct amount of liquor in their glass, and explain steps for completing the recipe.

Once the dispensers are empty, users can reorder them online for home delivery.
