Henrik Fisker has been building excitement for his electric car by releasing teaser images and new details about it for the past few weeks, and today's news dump is another stop on that hype train.

Fisker released two renderings of the car, dubbed the Fisker EMotion, that he says will achieve an all-electric range of 400 miles, Fisker Inc wrote in a press release sent to journalists on Monday. In the press release, Fisker says the EMotion will have a top speed of 161 mph. It will be produced as part of Fisker's newly minted auto company, Fisker Inc.

Fisker previously told Business Insider that the car will likely be built at VLF Automotive's plant in Detroit. VLF Automotive is an auto company Fisker joined in January that is producing his supercar, the Force 1.

Fisker said that the electric car will fall in the same price as a high-end Tesla Model S.

Fisker told Business Insider that he is planning to use new battery technology being developed by his battery division, Fisker Nanotech, to achieve a 400-mile range. Fisker said the cars will use graphene supercapacitors instead of traditional lithium ion batteries.

"Fisker has taken advantage of the newly developed electric power train layout by pushing the vehicle's entire interior compartment forward and increasing the wheelbase with distinctively short front and rear overhangs, a layout that increases the interior space," Fisker Inc. stated in a press statement Monday.

The car, slated for an official reveal in mid-2017, will pave the way for a more consumer friendly electric car that Fisker claims will be cheaper than the Chevy Bolt and Tesla Model 3, which are priced at $37,500 and $35,000 before federal tax exemptions, respectively.

Fisker said the trapezoid frame on the front of the car will hold a radar and camera to "provide future autonomous capability." Fisker said he is teaming with a supplier to develop the self-driving tech, but declined to disclose which one.

Fisker is currently producing his supercar, the Force 1 , through VLF Automotive. He is best known as the automotive designer behind iconic cars like the BMW Z8 and the Aston Martin DB9. Fisker was the force behind a luxury hybrid called the Karma. The Karma had a host of battery issues before the company behind the car, Fisker Automotive, ultimately went bankrupt.

Fisker previously told Business Insider that he sees Tesla as his big competition once he releases the electric car.

"I think it's pretty clear when you look at the market, when you look at the premium market, there's really only one company that is out there, and it's Tesla," he said.
