The Pakistan team is awaiting last minute clearances to fly to India for the ICC World Twenty20. The country has asked for a public assurance that its players and spectators would be safe in India. This also saw the March 19 Indo-Pak match being shifted from Dharamshala to Kolkata.

Young and promising all-rounder Pawan Negi came off as a surprise this time. 23-year-old Negi bowls left-arm spin and can bat if necessary. His consistency in the domestic cricket scene might have offered him this chance. Other youngsters Jasprit Bhumrah and Hardik Pandya earned their place after their brilliant performance in Australia. However, pacers Ishant Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were ignored. So was batsman Manish Pandey.
