Donald Trump.

President Donald Trump had the lowest approval rating at the vaunted 100-day mark of any president in modern history, according to Gallup's daily presidential tracker.

It wasn't even close.

Trump's approval rating, which was measured at 42% on Sunday when the final poll of his first 100 days was published, was a full 13 percentage points lower than President Bill Clinton, who previously held the lowest 100-day approval mark in the post-World War II era.

Prior to Trump, the average approval rating of the past nine presidents was slightly more than 62%.

Trump's first 100 days were tumultuous, highlighted by a Russia-related controversy casting a cloud over his early days in the White House as well as a lack of a major legislative achievement.

In an ad published Monday, Trump's campaign team tried to counter the narrative that had emerged of the president's first 100 days. It highlighted some of his accomplishments, including the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch.
