Gone are the days of traditional method of job search. The millennial generation has changed the ropes of the game and is evolving the recruiting procedure also.Now what matters to Millennials is higher salaries, work-life balance.
As per a latest report by TimesJobs' TJinsite, over 60% of India Inc. employees are researching extensively for jobs that are offering higher salaries.
For research, the young generation takes to social media, internet and peer feedback.
Talent communities like TechGig.com for IT Professionals are also catching up with new-age job seekers as 39% of the respondents claim to have used a talent network/community as part of their job search.
“Professionals today are more focused on their career trajectory and are looking at prospective employers in a very different way,” said Vivek Madhukar, COO, TimesJobs.
So what is the Generation Y doing while seeking jobs? Here’s what
1. Deep research about the firm that they are applying for, including salaries they offer.
2. They want clear job description. Nearly 77% of the job seekers stated they are more likely to apply for the job if the duties or responsibilities outline are crisp, to the point, and clearly defined. The TimesJobs study stated that almost 40% job seekers felt that a confusing job description gave a negative perception of the company.
3. The expectations do not stop here. Job-seekers also have a preference for receiving a response from the company. After filling the job application, over 53% job seekers prefer a personalized email is as form of communication. Almost 38% are also happy with a simple phone call, the study revealed.
4. The new generation doesn’t like delays. Speed is of the essence for them. Once in the hiring process, automated emails, multiple-level interviews and lengthy applications processes are some of their biggest turn-offs.
When it comes to filling application forms, 51% job seekers told TimesJobs that they found job application process easier today than it was two-three years ago.
Nowadays, competent professionals do similar research when planning their next move and advancing their careers and want to remain on top of their professions by researching the best employers in their domain.
