Here's everything we know about Kim Jong Un's handpicked all-girl pop group

In 2012, North Korea's Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un handpicked five girls to be part of his very own girl band: the Moranbong Band.

The girls sing state-sanctioned pop songs that promote the communist dictator's message. The classic "Let's Support Our Supreme Commander With Arms" mixes a catchy synth riff with fast violin and a thumping drum beat. On stage, the girls are dressed in short army skirts, surrounded by tanks and strobe lighting.

The story of the band gives clues about taste, fashion and culture in North Korea, showing what is permitted and discouraged in the totalitarian state.
