One of the biggest new additions we're expecting to see in the next iPhone is a much-improved camera, and now we've learned a bit more about exactly what that means.

The iPhone 6S will reportedly come with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, which means selfies and any other photos you capture with the iPhone's front camera are about to get a whole lot better.

The news comes from KGI Securities' Ming-Chi Kuo, which blog 9to5Mac first picked up. Kuo has an excellent track record when it comes to making predictions about Apple's upcoming products. He nailed a bunch of details about the iPhone 5, 5s, and 6, for instance.

If the iPhone 6S does come with a new 5-megapixel camera, it's going to represent a big jump from the current model, which features a 1.2-megapixel front camera. It would also help Apple catch up to the competition, considering phones such as the Galaxy S6 and OnePlus 2 both have 5-megapixel front cameras.

This is one of few camera improvements we're expecting to see in the new iPhone. Over the past several months, multiple rumors and reports have indicated the iPhone 6S will come with a 12-megapixel main camera, which is a significant change from the 8-megapixel camera on the current iPhone. Reports have also suggested the next iPhone will be able to shoot 4K video, too.

The camera will come with a better lens as well, which we reported last month. Although it's going to have a five-element lens like that of the iPhone 6, the new phone's lens will be of a higher quality since it's designed to work with the new 12-megapixel sensor.

We're expecting to learn more about Apple's next iPhone at its event on Sept. 9.
