Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen is giving the commencement speech to NYU's graduates today at 11:30 a.m. ET.

It's not unusual for sitting Fed Chairs to give commencement speeches. Here's an excerpt from Ben Bernanke's speech to Bard College graduates in 2013:

...The history of technological innovation and economic development teaches us that change is the only constant. During your working lives, you will have to reinvent yourselves many times. Success and satisfaction will not come from mastering a fixed body of knowledge but from constant adaptation and creativity in a rapidly changing world. Engaging with and applying new technologies will be a crucial part of that adaptation...

These words couldn't be more universal. They were certainly true for the Fed as it deployed extraordinary and unconventional monetary policies in its effort to stimulate the economy.
