Economists estimate the trade deficit widened to $36.0 billion in December, up from $34.3 billion the month prior.
"Container data suggests imports increased over the month and exports pulled back following two months of strong growth," said Wells Fargo's John Silvia.
We'll also have weekly initial claims data, also due out at 8:30. Economists are looking for claims to fall to 335,000 in the week ended February 1 from 348,000 the week before.
