HERE COMES THE JOBS REPORT
Daniel Goodman/Business Insider
At LONG last, we're finally about to get the September Jobs Report. The number comes out at 8:30 AM.The number was originally supposed to come out the first week of October, but thanks to the government shutdown it's been delayed.
Here's what Wall Street expects, and remember, this is just for September:
- Unemployment rate at 7.3%, flat from the previous month
- Change in Non-Farm Payrolls of 180K, up from 169K
- Change in monthly hourly earnings of 0.2% from the previous month.
Remember, not only was last month's number of 169K considered week, but there were big downward revisions to the earlier months.
If the September report confirms that trend, it will show that the economy was slowing even before the disruptive government shutdown, which shaved growth from Q4.
In the meantime, markets are essentially flat.
