Getty ImagesThe December report on manufacturing from the Dallas Federal Reserve is set for release at the bottom of the hour.
Expectations are for the index to come in at 9, down from 10.5 last month.
November's report showed that factory activity in Texas increased again in November, though the production index fell to 6 from 13.7 indicating slowing output in November.
Among comments in last month's report were that the drop in oil prices created a lot of uncertainty, and since last month's report oil prices have only gone lower.
