Baker Hughes will release its latest count of US oil and gas rigs at the top of the hour.
Last week, the oil driller's data showed that the rig count fell by 6 to 572, the lowest since June 11, 2010.
The combined count of oil and gas rigs was 771, down 4, and at the lowest level since April 2002.
Crude oil prices were falling on Friday, after the International Energy Agency said the supply glut was getting worse, and demand would soften in 2016. West Texas Intermediate crude futures in New York fell 3% to as low as $40.47 per barrel.
