The New York Empire State Manufacturing index, a monthly survey of manufacturers in New York State prepared by the New York Fed, is expected to be released today at 8:30 a.m. ET.

The index beat expectations in February, soaring to a two-year high of 18.70.

New orders rose by 10 points reaching 13.5, and the shipments index rose 11 points to 18.2. However, the index of future business conditions dropped by eight points to 41.7.

Economists expect the index to 15.0 in March.
