The latest reading on consumer confidence from the Conference Board will cross the wires at 10 a.m. ET.

Economists forecast that the index came in at 101.5 for October, according to the Bloomberg survey.

That would be a drop from the previous month when the index climbed to a post-recession high of 104.1.

For what it's worth, the index touched 105.6 in August 2007, as Joe LaVorgna, chief US economist at Deutsche Bank, pointed out earlier.
