The October home price index from S&P/Case-Shiller is set for release at the top of the hour.

Expectations are for the index to show home prices rose 0.4% month-on-month in October and rose 4.4% year-on-year.

In September, home prices rose month-on-month for the first time since April, with home prices gaining 0.34%. On a year-over-year basis, in September home prices rose, but more slowly than they had the prior month, rising 4.9% annually against September's 5.6% increase.

In comments on CNBC following last month's Case-Shiller report, Yale professor Robert Shiller and one half of the Case-Shiller name, said that housing "isn't an exciting" investment right now but said it is reasonable to expect a 5% per year increase in home prices over the next two years.

We'll be back with the live numbers when they hit.
