Economists estimate that orders fell 3% compared to the prior month, according to Bloomberg.

"Core" orders, which exclude military orders and planes, are expected at 0.3%.

Orders rose 4.7% in the prior period, led by a jump in civilian aircraft.

Wells Fargo's Sam Bullard noted in a preview that the transportation component could have the largest impact on headline orders. He noted that some relief could be coming, as regional manufacturing surveys rebounded in March.
