Here are the top 7 most diverse and inclusive companies in the US

Thomson Reuters just launched a new index Monday, which ranks the top 100 listed companies with the most diverse and inclusive workplaces.

To determine the ranking, Thomson Reuters looked at metrics such as board gender diversity, internal promotions and day care services, which were then weighted based on importance in the market and how each company stacks up against its peers.

Most of the US-listed companies that made it on the list are pharmaceutical and consumer companies, though tech giants like Cisco and Microsoft also earned high spots.

Researchers from McKinsey and MIT have found that diverse workplaces are more productive and profitable. And some companies have already adopted policies to become more LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) friendly.
