The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has just released statistics for 2015's most popular baby names in England and Wales.

Amelia and Oliver continue to be the most popular baby names for girls and boys respectively.

5,158 babies were named Amelia, which has been the top girls' name since 2011, and 6,941 babies were named Oliver, which has been the number one boys' name since 2013.

The ONS statistics compiled baby names from first names recorded in registry data from the two countries. All registered births in England and Wales have been included, regardless of whether or not the mother is a resident of either country, but have been excluded from the statistics for the two countries separately.

While Amelia and Oliver have been crowned the most popular baby names for the third year running, Jack and Olivia came second, with 5,371 baby boys named Jack and 4,853 girls named Olivia. In third place, 3,893 girls were named Emily, and 5,308 boys were named Harry.

At the other end of the list, Eloise moved up 10 places from 110th in 2014, just making it into 2015's top 100 list of girls' names. For boys, Connor dropped 21 places from 79th place in 2014 to become the 100th most popular name.
